About AgriLink Maldives
A bilingual digital agriculture platform owned by Pro Island Food — built to strengthen climate-smart local food systems across Maldivian islands.
Our mission
Connect farmers, buyers, agricultural suppliers, and advisors in one simple place — so local harvests are visible before they reach the market, and island food systems become more resilient.
The problem we address
Maldivian agriculture operates across dispersed islands and a fragmented market. Information about what farmers are growing, expected harvest dates, available quantities, buyer demand, agricultural inputs, and professional advice is often scattered across phone calls, messaging groups, and informal networks.
That mismatch means lost selling opportunities, weak price visibility, and avoidable post-harvest waste — while restaurants, shops, households, and institutions struggle to source local produce in time.
How AgriLink helps
AgriLink creates one bilingual digital network connecting production, demand, inputs, advice, and climate-smart information. Farmers list current produce and upcoming harvests. Buyers browse, reserve, publish demand, and set alerts. Suppliers share catalogues. Consultants receive digital requests. Everyone can learn climate-resilient practices in Dhivehi and English.
Built from the ground up for island agriculture
AgriLink was shaped around the real pressures of Maldivian farming: climate stress, scattered islands, and a market that rarely plans ahead. Three priorities guide everything we build — resilient production, practical digital tools, and a clearer path from farm to buyer.
Climate-resilient farming & food systems
A reviewed Knowledge Centre covers heat, salinity, water scarcity, heavy rain, pests, soil and growing media, responsible fertiliser use, post-harvest handling, and food-waste reduction. Surplus-harvest alerts and better demand visibility help farmers respond to climate disruptions without losing produce.Digital tools for island conditions
A mobile-first Progressive Web App built for smartphones and low-bandwidth island conditions. Future harvest listings, a buyer Demand Board, configurable alerts, bilingual UX, verification, moderation, and security controls turn informal coordination into a reusable national digital platform.Stronger farm-to-buyer value chains
AgriLink strengthens the farm-to-buyer link: marketplace listings, reservations, demand posts, supplier catalogues, and consultant access. The innovation is two-way planning — not only “what is available today?”, but “what is being grown, when it will be ready, and what buyers will need next.”
Climate adaptation & responsible use
- Climate adaptation: reviewed guidance and access to professional advice on heat, water, salinity, crop stress, pests, climate-resilient practices, and food security — so production decisions can adjust before losses grow.
- Environmentally sustainable practices: the platform itself is fully digital and requires no construction. It promotes water-efficient cultivation, responsible input use, soil and growing-media care, climate-smart production, better post-harvest handling, and less food waste through surplus alerts.
- Responsible resource use & safeguards: agricultural guidance encourages efficient water, energy, and input use. Professional advice is distinguished from unverified content. Verification, moderation, role-based access, encrypted connections, backups, monitoring, and security testing reduce operational and data risks.

What makes this innovative
Digital marketplaces exist globally. AgriLink’s innovation is a Maldivian bilingual agricultural network that combines future harvest visibility, a Demand Board, alerts, supplier catalogues, consultant access, climate-smart knowledge, and aggregate supply/demand insights — a planning link between production and demand that can be replicated nationwide.
